Job summary

Covia is seeking an Operations Manager in Chardon, OH to direct production, shipping and maintenance activities, ensuring safety, quality and cost efficiency. You will lead a team, drive continuous improvement, and partner with the Plant Manager for strategic planning and annual reviews.

The role requires a engineering or technical degree with 5+ years in heavy industry and 2+ years of frontline supervisory experience. Strong communication, problem-solving and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical major strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of heavy industry experience required, mining or mineral processing preferred.
• 2+ years of front-line supervisory experience required.
• Management experience leading teams to deliver results.
• Strong negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct production, shipping and maintenance activities to meet production goals safely and cost-effectively.
• Direct safe mining, processing, and shipping while maintaining records.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce costs and increase productivity.
• Coordinate subordinates to achieve output and quality targets.
• Prepare operations reports, IFS uploads and variance comments.
• Support annual Operational Excellence meetings and OEM reviews.
• Address problems related to staff, equipment, quality, safety, materials, and transport.
• Oversee hiring of hourly employees and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain communications across departments and with customers.
