Job summary

Steelcase in Athens, AL is seeking a production assembler to perform a limited variety of repetitive subassemblies or complete units from component parts, using light power tools, jigs and fixtures.

This role requires dexterity, the ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, read blueprints and use measuring tools to ensure parts meet quality specifications, and rework units to meet requirements. The position emphasizes meeting takt/cycle times and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Stand for long periods, with frequent bending and twisting.
• Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs from floor to shoulders; push/pull up to 15 lbs.
• Frequent carrying of 35-55 lbs and occasional rotation to other work areas.
• Read blueprints and use measuring tools to ensure parts meet quality specs.

Qualifications

Skills/Abilities

• Able to work standing constantly and with frequent bending and twisting.
• Able to occasionally lift 35 lbs. from floor to waist; lift 50 lbs from waist to shoulders; and push / pull up to 15 lbs.
• Able to frequently carry 35-55 lbs.
• Able to reach constantly forward, frequently laterally and occasionally over the shoulders.
• Able to occasionally grasp with moderate force.
• Able to rotate to other work in the zone, department, division or plant as required.
• May be required to read blueprints and use measuring tools (e.g. calipers, linear measuring machine, fixtures etc.) to ensure that parts are within quality specifications.
• Able to visually inspect for defects.
• Must be able to meet required takt/cycle time as established.
