Job summary

Steelcase is seeking workers for light assembly and subassembly tasks. You will perform repetitive steps to build or complete units, rework items to meet specs, and use light power tools, jigs, and fixtures. Reading blueprints and measuring parts ensures quality while maintaining takt times.

We value dexterity and the ability to stand for long periods with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, and you may rotate to different zones as needed. Safety and accuracy are key to success in this role.

Qualifications

• Standing for long periods and frequent bending or twisting.
• Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to shoulders; carry 35–55 lbs.
• Read blueprints and use measuring tools to ensure parts meet specs.
• Visually inspect parts for defects and ensure quality.

Job description

Performs a limited variety of repetitive subassemblies or complete units from component parts. May use light power tools, methods, jigs and fixtures. Reworks and repairs units to meet requirements. Requires dexterity but no special skills or knowledge.

Qualifications

Skills/Abilities

• Able to work standing constantly and with frequent bending and twisting.
• Able to occasionally lift 35 lbs. from floor to waist; lift 50 lbs from waist to shoulders; and push / pull up to 15 lbs.
• Able to frequently carry 35-55 lbs.
• Able to reach constantly forward, frequently laterally and occasionally over the shoulders.
• Able to occasionally grasp with moderate force.
• Able to rotate to other work in the zone, department, division or plant as required.
• May be required to read blueprints and use measuring tools (e.g. calipers, linear measuring machine, fixtures etc.) to ensure that parts are within quality specifications.
• Able to visually inspect for defects.
• Must be able to meet required takt/cycle time as established.
