About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership position supporting our day-to-day transportation operation. You will work directly with drivers, customers, and our Operations Manager to keep freight moving safely, efficiently, and on time. The role includes dispatching, route planning, driver communication and accountability, customer service, driver development, and supporting the overall performance of the Operations team.

Key ResponsibilitiesDispatch & Daily Operations

• Dispatch drivers and clearly communicate routes, pickups, deliveries, customer expectations, and schedule changes.
• Monitor drivers and freight throughout the day using Samsara and our transportation management systems.
• Proactively manage delays, driver availability, weather issues, customer changes, and other day-to-day operational challenges.
• Ensure pickups and deliveries are completed safely, on time, and with proactive customer communication.
• Plan and optimize routes to improve truck utilization, reduce unnecessary miles, and increase operational efficiency.
• Build and review routes for the following business day and coordinate appointments, service calls, hotels, and special transportation requirements.
• Occasionally drive a non-CDL box truck when needed to support customers or operations.

Driver Leadership, Culture & Development

• Serve as a primary point of contact for drivers throughout the day and build strong working relationships.
• Hold drivers accountable to company expectations while providing clear communication, support, and constructive coaching.
• Coach drivers on customer service, communication, productivity, attendance, safety, and company procedures.
• Identify and document performance concerns with the Operations Manager and assist with follow-up when expectations are not met.
• Conduct driver ride-alongs and support ongoing training and development.
• Help prepare and lead pre-shift and Operations team meetings.
• Actively support Premier Logistics culture by participating in driver, employee, customer, and community events, including occasional events outside normal business hours.

Customer Service

• Maintain proactive communication with customers regarding pickups, deliveries, ETAs, delays, and special requests.
• Respond quickly to customer questions and transportation needs and help resolve issues before they become larger service problems.
• Protect the high level of communication, responsiveness, and service Premier Logistics is known for.

What We're Looking For

• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A can-do attitude with a strong sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-moving environment.
• Comfort with computers, email, Microsoft Office, and transportation technology; Samsara experience is preferred but not required.
• Willingness to pick up the phone, communicate directly, and get things done.
• A team-first attitude, flexibility when operations require extra support, and a genuine interest in building relationships and company culture.
• Interest in growing into additional operations leadership responsibilities.

Transportation, dispatch, logistics, trucking, or route-planning experience is preferred.

Schedule & Availability

Premier Logistics operates approximately 5:30 AM-7:30 PM Monday through Friday, with our Operations team sharing coverage. This position participates in rotating:

• AM coverage: approximately 5:30 AM-3:00 PM
• PM coverage: approximately 10:00 AM-7:30 PM
• Shared after-hours and weekend phone/email coverage on a rotating basis
• Occasional weekend work due to severe weather, operational needs, company events, or other unforeseen circumstances
• Attendance at two mandatory company meetings each year, which are typically held on weekends

This is an in-office leadership position in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Flexibility is important because transportation does not always operate on a perfect Monday-Friday schedule.
