The Boldt Company, a leader in complex construction, seeks an Operations Controller in San Francisco to guide all project accounting and financial operations. You will partner across operations, project management, controls, and business development to deliver accurate reporting, forecasting, and financial guidance that drives project success.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; equivalent combinations may be considered.
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee project accounting and financial operations for Boldt's construction business.
  • Partner with operations, project management, controls, and business development to provide financial oversight, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Lead the project accounting function: contract compliance, billing, cash management, and job costing.
  • Support pricing and contract review activities and champion continuous improvement for profitability.
  • Mentor and develop project accounting teams and build trusted cross‑functional partnerships.

The Operations Controller serves as a strategic financial leader responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial operations that support Boldt's construction business. This role partners closely with operations, project management, project controls, and business development teams to provide financial oversight, reporting, forecasting, and guidance that drive successful project and business outcomes. The Operations Controller leads the project accounting function, ensuring accurate project setup, contract compliance, billing, cash management, job costing, payroll, and financial reporting while supporting the operating group's profitability and long-term growth objectives.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong construction accounting and financial management experience who thrives in a fast‑paced project environment. This individual will develop and mentor project accounting teams, provide financial analysis and forecasting for executive leadership, support pricing and contract review activities, and champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and profitability. What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting or finance required; experience with construction accounting preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Nice to Have
  • CPA Preferred
  • Five Years of Management experience
  • Familiarity with healthcare systems and regulatory environments such as HCAI.
Compensation

Target Hiring Range: $157,000.00-$209,000.00 (rounded) annually

Boldt recognizes that experience, expertise, and specialized skills create value. The target hiring range for this position is $157,000.00- $209,000.00 (rounded) annually; however, compensation is determined based on qualifications, experience, certifications, geographic market conditions, internal equity, and business considerations. In addition to base compensation, employees may be eligible for incentive compensation and participation in applicable company benefit programs.
