Job summary

Transluce, a nonprofit research lab in San Francisco, is seeking a Business Operations Manager to build the operating system for 40+ staff. You’ll own money flow, security, tooling, and office operations, shaping processes that scale with the organization.

You’ll work directly with the leadership, align finance and IT practices with SOC 2 and accounting requirements, and occasionally expand into other operations domains as the team grows.

Qualifications

• Finance and accounting knowledge or ability to learn quickly.
• Experience managing external vendors and maintaining standards.
• Ability to discuss security and IT with vendors and teams.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and financial tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and run operations infrastructure and decide what to automate or outsource.
• Direct external accountants and enforce fiscal controls and audits.
• Manage internal tools, security policies, and SOC 2 compliance.
• Own office management, space planning, and vendor relationships.
• Scale operations as the team grows from 20 to 40+ people.
