Montgomery College is seeking an Operations and Maintenance Supervisor in the Facilities Department. The role oversees HVAC systems and related equipment, with a 6:30am–3:00pm Monday–Friday schedule, and requires leadership of maintenance staff.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, 7 years in facilities maintenance including 2 years in supervision, appropriate trade licenses, and a valid driver’s license. Open until filled.

Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring has an immediate needfor an Operations and Maintenance Supervisor in the FacilitiesDepartment The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 6:30am – 3:00pm.This is a Non-Bargaining, Exempt, grade 29 position. The Operations Maintenance Supervisor is responsible forsupervising the installation, operation, modification, repair,troubleshooting, and testing of heating, ventilation and airconditioning (HVAC) systems and associated equipment.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Provide leadership, guidance and direction to assigned staffengaged in providing facilities maintenance and repairservices.
• Supervise the performance of routine staff duties associatedwith work such as the maintenance and repair of central cooling,heating plan and associated systems.
• Supervise the performance of operational tests of new andexisting system command and control points.
• Oversee the preventative maintenance program, includingassociated logs, reports and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)where applicable.
• Schedule, assign, inspect, and review work of assigned staff toensure work is performed according to established standards.
• Implement safety practices and protocols. Verify and ensurethat staff observe all applicable regulations and best practicesrequired for the assigned task.
• Oversee and enforce the energy management program.
• Identify and implement goals and objectives for the unit.
• Conduct performance evaluations, formal and informal coachingand recommend disciplinary action.
• Evaluate the training needs of staff and coordinate/conductin-house training.
• Approve overtime, leave requests and schedules.
• Participate in recruitment process and make recommendations tohire.
• Serve as a liaison between management and line employees.
• Identify issues and challenges within the unit and developstrategies to resolve.
• Identify material and equipment needs to perform duties andprepare estimates of materials, time, and labor to completejobs.
• Supervise the work of contractors, obtain and review bids,review/inspect completed jobs and sign off.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• 7 years' experience in the facilities maintenance fieldincluding 2 years' experience in a supervisory/team lead/foremanrole.
• HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing Trades Master License or MarylandStationary Engineer 2nd grade license.
• Driver's license.
• The equivalent combination of education, training,certification and/or experience that provides the requiredknowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of thejob may be considered.

Hiring Range: $74,267- $96,558 annually. Initial salary placementfor new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the rangeand is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity.The maximum salary for this position is $118,850.

For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your educationequivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluationservice, must be included in your application.
