Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States (Missouri) seeks an experienced operations consultant to lead and support due diligence, value creation, and performance improvement for manufacturing and distribution clients.

You will partner with private equity sponsors and portfolio leadership to translate findings into actionable plans, KPI dashboards, and measurable EBITDA improvements. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Experience in operations consulting, operational due diligence, or performance improvement in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial settings.
• Experience with private equity sponsors and portfolio companies.
• Experience supporting buy-side or sell-side operational due diligence.
• Ability to assess operational performance and develop actionable implementation plans.
• Proven track record delivering improvements in cost, productivity, throughput, EBITDA, or working capital.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, TOC, or similar methods.
• Strong financial acumen with ability to translate findings into financial impact.
• Experience working with C-suite, PE sponsors, and operating partners.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Partner with client leadership and engagement teams to evaluate operations, identify value creation opportunities, and help clients execute initiatives that improve performance and financial results.
• Work with private equity sponsors and portfolio leadership to move from assessment to execution.
• Lead and support operational due diligence engagements for buy-side, sell-side, and carve-out transactions.
• Assess manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, quality, maintenance, and distribution operations to identify risks and opportunities.
• Evaluate operational scalability relative to investment theses and growth strategies.
• Develop value creation roadmaps with 100-day plans, priorities, and KPIs.
• Conduct current-state operational assessments across production, labor productivity, planning, maintenance, quality, and procurement.
• Identify and support EBITDA-improvement initiatives: cost optimization, productivity, working capital, and operational excellence.
• Analyze labor, overhead, and cost structures to build business cases for investments, restructuring, and optimization.
• Translate operational findings into investment-focused recommendations for leadership, PE sponsors, and investment committees.
• Support and lead engagement teams while managing day-to-day client relationships and delivering high-quality work.
• Help clients implement sustainable operating rhythms, governance processes, and performance management tools.
