Summary

We are seeking a senior-level Operational Data Analyst to join an Advanced Distribution Management Team supporting Electric Distribution Operations, Electric Reliability, Customer Operations, and related business organizations. This role will independently lead complex data analysis across utility operations, outage management, customer outage notifications, and related systems-partnering with subject matter experts, business stakeholders, and application teams to answer business questions, improve data quality, and deliver insights that enhance the outage-related customer experience. The analyst will support platforms and data areas including Outage Management System (OMS), Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), and Oracle Utilities Analytics (OUA).

Job Responsibilities

In this role, you will manage and support a variety of data analytics and reporting initiatives within Electric Distribution Operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead complex electric distribution, Network Management System (NMS), Oracle Utilities Analytics (OUA), and Customer Success data requests by understanding source data relationships, building and refining SQL queries, validating results, and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Own recurring outage data audits to identify gaps, trends, and opportunities to improve customer outage notifications, internal processes, data quality, and supporting technology.
  • Design and build reports, dashboards, and data views using outage, customer, operational, and other relevant data sources to support leadership decisions and operational performance monitoring.
  • Support development of internal and external outage trackers, including integration with cloud-hosted components or AWS-based environments where applicable.
  • Analyze Customer Success, customer outage notification, and external outage map data to identify opportunities to improve customer experience, including developing options and recommendations related to crew status information and other customer-facing outage map enhancements.
Essential Job Duties and Job Functions
  • Independently analyze complex operational data sets, reconcile data across systems, identify anomalies, validate results, evaluate options, and translate findings into actionable business insights and recommendations.
  • Lead requirements discussions, document functional or technical specifications, support user acceptance testing, create user-friendly documentation, and advise stakeholders on data-driven decisions.
  • Partner with technical and business stakeholders, ask thoughtful questions, and provide clear, data-driven recommendations.
  • Prioritize data accuracy, quality, and reliable outcomes across all reporting and analysis work.
  • Understand how data, applications, Customer Success priorities, and operational processes work together to support reliable operations and improve the customer experience.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance processes, reporting, and operational performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Ramp up quickly, organize work, manage ambiguity, and move analysis forward with limited day-to-day direction.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong analytical and SQL skills, with the ability to work independently across complex operational data sets, validate results, identify anomalies, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Utility operations or outage management experience recommended (not required), particularly familiarity with outage management, customer outage notifications, external outage map analytics, reliability data, Network Management System (NMS), SQL Developer, or related utility operations data.
  • Clear, executive-ready communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and influence decisions through data-driven insights.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, relational data models, and Oracle Database concepts; experience with Oracle tools, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with PL/SQL, XML, Power Query, Power BI data modeling, DAX, Microsoft Fabric, cloud data warehousing, or AWS-based data environments preferred.
Candidate Profile

We are seeking a senior-level contractor who is a strong analytical problem solver, Customer Success-focused, data-driven, collaborative, detail-oriented, a systems thinker, self-directed, and committed to continuous improvement.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree not required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in data analytics, business systems analysis, database development, BI/reporting, software development, or application/data support roles, preferably supporting complex operational systems. Candidates with 7+ years of highly relevant utility, outage management, customer operations, or operational analytics experience may also be considered.
  • Senior-level experience developing reports, dashboards, data extracts, or analytics using SQL, Oracle tools, Power BI, or similar platforms.
