Job summary

Nexiya in San Diego, CA is hiring a Data Analyst III to deliver advanced analytical support for a major utility organization. In this onsite role with the Advanced Distribution Management Team (ADMT), you will work with complex outage, customer, and operational datasets, using SQL to produce validated insights and recommendations.

The work centers on leading data requests, auditing outage-related data, and building reporting that leadership can act on.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in data analytics or related roles.
  • Experience creating reports, dashboards, data extracts, or analytics using SQL, Power BI, or similar tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of relational data models and Oracle Database concepts.
  • Experience leading requirements discussions and documenting specifications for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex data requests by mapping source data relationships and refining SQL queries.
  • Own outage data audits to surface gaps, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Design and build dashboards and data views using outage, customer, and operational data.
  • Support development of outage trackers and cloud-based data environments where applicable.
  • Analyze Customer Success data and outage notifications to improve customer experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Nexiya is hiring a Data Analyst III to deliver advanced analytical support for a major utility organization. In this onsite role with the Advanced Distribution Management Team (ADMT), you will work with complex operational, outage, customer, and system datasets, using strong SQL to produce validated insights and recommendations that improve operational performance and the customer outage experience.

The work is centered on leading data requests, auditing outage-related datasets, and building reporting that leadership can act on. The position is based in the Kearny Mesa office in San Diego, CA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead complex electric distribution, Network Management System (NMS), Oracle Utilities Analytics (OUA), and Customer Success data requests by mapping source data relationships, building and refining SQL queries, validating outputs, and converting findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Own recurring outage data audits to surface gaps, trends, and improvement opportunities across customer outage notifications, internal processes, data quality, and supporting technology.
  • Design and build reports, dashboards, and data views using outage, customer, operational, and other relevant data sources to support leadership decisions and operational performance monitoring.
  • Support development of internal and external outage trackers, including integration with cloud-hosted components or AWS-based environments where applicable.
  • Analyze Customer Success data, customer outage notification data, and external outage map data to identify opportunities to improve customer experience, including recommendations tied to crew status information and enhancements to customer-facing outage maps.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 5 or more years of progressive experience in data analytics, business systems analysis, database development, BI and reporting, software development, or application/data support roles, preferably supporting complex operational systems.
  • Senior-level experience developing reports, dashboards, data extracts, or analytics using SQL, Oracle tools, Power BI, or similar platforms, with strong working knowledge of SQL, relational data models, and Oracle Database concepts.
  • Ability to independently analyze complex operational datasets, reconcile data across systems, identify anomalies, validate results, evaluate options, and translate findings into actionable business insights.
  • Experience leading requirements discussions, documenting functional or technical specifications, supporting user acceptance testing, creating user-friendly documentation, and advising stakeholders on data-driven decisions.
  • Familiarity with outage management, Customer Success, customer outage notifications, external outage map analytics, reliability data, Oracle Utilities Analytics (OUA), Network Management System (NMS), SQL Developer, or related utility operations data preferred.
  • Experience with PL/SQL, XML, Power Query, Power BI data modeling, DAX, Microsoft Fabric, cloud data warehousing, or AWS-based data environments preferred.
  • Strong executive-ready communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical information, summarize findings, and influence decisions with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must be able to successfully pass background screening.
  • Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States.

Location: San Diego, CA 92123 (onsite, required). Work location: in person. Pay range: $60.00 - $75.00 per hour (min $60/hour, max $75/hour). Client deadline: Thursday 8/13 at 5 PM.
