LHH is seeking an Operational Accounting Manager in Rockville, MD. You will strengthen day-to-day accounting operations, implement process improvements, and partner with leaders to drive financial decisions.

This role emphasizes GAAP compliance, month-end close leadership, and cross-functional collaboration across the finance team. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in either public or operational accounting, with experience in financial reporting and process optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with ideally 2+ years in public accounting.
• CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Experience leading month-end close processes in a growing organization.

Responsabilités

• Manage day-to-day operational accounting activities including general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close.
• Oversee and review financial reporting packages to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Lead accounting process improvements and streamline workflows across the finance function.
• Partner with operational and executive leadership to support business initiatives and financial decision-making.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff while fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Coordinate with external auditors and support year-end audit activities.
• Analyze financial data and provide actionable insights to leadership.
• Support implementation or optimization of ERP systems and accounting technology tools.
