Job summary

Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) seeks a Supervisor to oversee the installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of electric meter and test equipment across the CECONY system.

The role emphasizes safety, environmental compliance, and accurate labor/material accounting, with travel to various locations and emergency response duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 5 years of work experience or a Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of work experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 2 years of work experience including 1 year supervisory experience preferred.
• Electric metering experience is preferred; knowledge of relevant systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of electric meter and test equipment.
• Ensure safety and environmental instructions and PSC requirements are followed.
• Develop and monitor skills of assigned employees and provide performance feedback.
• Account for labor, materials and supplies accurately.
• Plan, schedule and assign work to meet goals and commitments.
• Coordinate materials and equipment delivery and stay within budgeted resources.
• Be willing to travel across the CECONY system and respond to emergencies.
• Perform other assignments as required.

Job Description

Supervise personnel in the safe, timely and efficient installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of all electric meter and test equipment. Ensure these activities are performed in accordance with applicable safety and environmental instructions and operating procedures, and in compliance with applicable PSC requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise direct reports in the safe, efficient and productive installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of electric meter and test equipment.
• Ensure work activities are performed in accordance with applicable safety and environmental instructions and operating procedures.
• Develop and monitor skills of assigned employees and provide accurate feedback. Include feedback in performance evaluations.
• Ensure correct accounting for labor, materials and supplies.
• Assist Work Organizer in planning, scheduling and assigning work in the most productive manner possible to meet goals, customer commitments and emergent work.
• Order, coordinate and ensure availability and timely delivery of materials, supplies and equipment.
• Work within budgeted/projected resource limits.
• Must be willing to travel to various work locations across the CECONY system and respond to system emergencies as needed.
• Perform other assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

• High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of work experience or
• Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of work experience

Preferred Education/Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 2 years of work experience to include a minimum of 1 year supervisory and/or electric distribution equipment work experience

Relevant Work Experience

• Electric metering experience, preferred.
• Working knowledge of Work Management/Logica Systems, CIS, MAMS, MDMS and ProField, preferred.

Additional Physical Demands

• The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
