Job summary

Mercyhealth in Wisconsin seeks a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room by preparing sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures. You will assist the surgeon, anticipate needs, and help position patients, while maintaining a safe, sterile environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program (or in accreditation process). NBSTSA certification preferred/required if the program is not accredited.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program required or currently in accreditation process.
• LPN grandfathered (3) at Rockford campus.

Responsibilities

• Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment during the surgical procedure.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
• Assists with patient placement and positioning on the table.
• Performs counts for sponges, needles, and instruments with circulator.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants; maintains sterile field.
• Passes instruments to surgeon during procedure.
• Prepares sterile dressings.
• Assists in cleaning the operating room after each procedure.
• Participates in department performance improvement activities.
