Job summary

United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV seeks a skilled surgical team member to provide intraoperative care as the scrub person aiding the surgical team.

Qualified candidates will hold a current LPN license with scrub experience or have completed a Surgical Technology Program with certification, and must obtain BLS within 30 days of hire. 1+ year of surgical tech experience is preferred, with a focus on aseptic technique and teamwork in the OR.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse AND two (2) years of previous scrub experience.
• OR Completion of a Surgical Technology Program AND surgical technologist certification.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Maintains aseptic technique in sterile and non-sterile roles in the OR.
• Assists circulating RN to maintain a sterile field.
• Performs sponge, instrument, and needle counts with circulating RN.
• Assists with gowning, gloving, and positioning of surgeons and equipment.
• Passes sterile instruments to the surgical team during procedures.
• Helps with transportation and positioning of patients; assists with retractors and operative limb positioning.
• Prepares supplies and equipment per preference cards; assists with sterilization and maintenance of supplies.
• Monitors inventory, orders, and restocks supplies and equipment; removes out-of-date items per guidelines.
