Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to help prepare the operating room and surgical team for a variety of procedures. You will set up equipment and instruments, assist the team, and maintain a sterile environment to support the patient’s healing process.

You will need adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures in a busy OR.

Qualifications

• Graduation from ARC-ST accredited Surgical Technology program by hire date.
• Nursing degree may substitute for Surgical Technology program by hire date.
• Surgical Technologist Registration in WA required by hire date.
• Registered Nurse in WA required by hire date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification by hire date.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room and patient for surgery using aseptic techniques; sets up sterile equipment, instruments, drapes, and solutions; assists with scrubbing and sterile field prep.
• Assists with donning gowns and gloves for surgeon and assistants.
• Helps with positioning and draping of patient under qualified practitioner.
• Assists with comfort and safety measures under direction of qualified practitioner.
• Transfers and positions patient on operating room table and covers with sterile drapes.
• Assists anesthesia personnel as needed under direction of qualified practitioner.
