Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in the Puget Sound area seeks a Surgical Tech to prepare the operating room and assist the surgical team across a variety of procedures. Qualifications

• Graduation from an ARC-ST accredited surgical technology program or RN WA license.
• WA Surgical Technologist Registration or RN license upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification on hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room and patient for procedures with aseptic technique.
• Sets up sterile equipment, drapes, and instruments; assists scrubbing and gowning.
• Assists with positioning, draping, and patient safety under direction.
• Transfers patient to table and maintains sterile field during surgery.
• Assists anesthesia personnel as needed.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients. Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process. To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

• Prepares the operating room and patient for the surgical procedure by applying principles and techniques of asepsis to work assignments; sets up sterile equipment, instruments, drapes and solutions; assists with scrubbing, preparation of sterile field, gowning/gloving members of the surgical team.
• Helps the surgeon and any assistants put on their surgical gowns and gloves.
• Assists with positioning and draping of patient under direction of qualified practitioner.
• Assists with comfort and safety measures under direction of qualified practitioner.
• Transfers and positions patient to operating room table and covers them with sterile surgical drapes.
• Assists anesthesia personnel as needed under the direction of qualified practitioner.

Required

• Graduation from surgical technology program accredited through Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology ARC-ST., upon hire or
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing may be substituted for graduation from an accredited surgical technician program., upon hire and
• Surgical Technologist Registration: WA, upon hire or
• Registered Nurse: WA, upon hire and
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Preferred

• six months operating room work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities
