Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System Corporation seeks a dedicated Surgical Support Technician to join our OR team on a PRN basis. The role emphasizes assisting surgeons, passing instruments, and maintaining sterile technique to support safe, efficient procedures.

You will prepare and restock the OR, ensure instruments are sterilized, help position patients, and collaborate with staff to uphold infection control and high-quality patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Surgical Support Technician or similar role preferred.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile techniques.
• Familiarity with operating room protocols and safety measures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the operating room environment before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Assist surgeons and surgical staff by passing instruments and supplies as needed.
• Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and functioning.
• Monitor and restock surgical supplies to maintain readiness.
• Adhere to all safety and infection control policies and procedures.
• Support patient positioning and transport as required.
• Collaborate effectively with the surgical team to provide high-quality patient care.
