Job summary

McLaren is seeking a part-time patient care assistant to support the surgery team. The role involves direct and indirect patient care activities, sterile procedure setup, and assisting with room turnover and equipment readiness.

You will help maintain a safe work environment and respond to emergencies per procedures. The position requires a high school diploma and BLS certification, with a preference for prior Operating Room experience and at least one year in a patient care setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross).
• Preferred: prior Operating Room experience.
• Preferred: at least 1 year experience in a patient care area.

Responsibilities

• Assists in maintaining a safe and orderly patient care environment in surgery, adhering to established policy.
• Demonstrates competency and knowledge in performing specified skills, including transporting and activities that occur in a sterile environment.
• Assists with supplying OR suites with stock items; supplies blanket/fluid warmer; runs errands that support patient care activity.
• Assists with room turnover by performing activities such as sweeping, mopping, removing trash, and disinfecting as appropriate.
• Responds to real or simulated emergency and disaster situations according to established procedure.
• Communicates effectively and reports observations of patient status to RN and follows through as directed.
• Respects patient rights by providing privacy and confidentiality of information.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification

One year patient care experience
