Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Surgical Technologist Non Certified OR Certified to assist in operating rooms, prepare patients and equipment, and maintain a sterile field. The candidate will scrub during procedures, pass instruments, and support the surgical team throughout the operation.

Required credentials include a high school diploma or equivalent and specific surgical technology training or NBSTSA/NCCT certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology training program with a minimum of one month of directly related clinical experience; OR
• Completion of the Surgical Technologist Apprentice Program with TS-C certification from NCCT within one year of program completion; OR
• NBSTSA certification with one month of related clinical experience; OR TS-C certification with two years of experience as a non-certified Surgical Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating rooms, ensuring all equipment and supplies for the procedure are disinfected, assembled and in working order.
• Maintains the sterile field in the operating room and provides supportive care during the pre-operative phase.
• During surgery performs scrub functions including passing sterile equipment and assisting with instrument counts and specimen handling.
• Ensures rooms are clean, sterile and stocked for the next procedure and supports clerical duties as needed.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Completion of an accredited surgical technology training program with a minimum of one month of directly related clinical experience

NBSTSA certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting

Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C) certification from NCCT
