Job summary

PVH Potomac Valley Hospital in West Virginia is seeking an OR Scrub role to support the surgical team as a scrub person during operative procedures.

The position requires completion of a LPN, Surgical Technology, or RN program, or a high school diploma with six months of scrub experience. BLS certification within 30 days is required. Strong aseptic technique and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Licensed Practical Nurse program.
• OR completion of a Surgical Technology program.
• OR completion of a Registered Nurse program.
• OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and six (6) months of previous scrub experience.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes quality aseptic technique in sterile and non-sterile roles in the OR.
• Assist the circulating RN in maintaining a sterile field.
• Performs sponge, instrument, and needle counts with the circulating RN per guidelines.
• Assist with gowning and gloving surgeons and positioning equipment.
• Pass sterile instruments to the surgical team during procedures.
• Assist with transportation and positioning of patients and handling retractors.
• Prepare supplies and equipment per preference cards.
• Assist with sterilization and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
• Monitor inventory and restock supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Remove out-of-date items and reprocess as needed.
• Assist with general cleaning duties of the department.
• Perform equipment checks as assigned.
• Assist with recording patient charges.
• Call with a response time of 30 minutes.
