MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, IA, is seeking a Surgical Technologist who prepares the operating room, instruments cases, and assists the circulating nurse across specialties while maintaining sterile technique and patient safety.

The successful candidate will have a surgical technologist certification, at least 2 years of surgical tech experience, BLS, and a commitment to high-quality patient care in a fast-paced OR environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a surgical technologist program or graduate of an LPN program with surgical experience.
• Certification as a surgical technologist required.
• LPN license required if graduate of LPN program.
• Must have at least 2 years of experience functioning as a Surgical Tech.
• Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire.
• Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists the circulating nurse in assessing the patients’ needs and helps to develop and implement the plan of care.
• Provides care to all surgical patients in accordance with standards and physician preferences.
• Assists in setting up rooms.
• Secures safe transport of the patient if needed.
• Prepares the pre-operative site, instruments the case, manages the sterile field and specimens.
• Develops and maintains knowledge/skills in all surgical specialties.
