Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Registered Nurse (Operating Room Scheduler) to act as a coordinator and facilitator across surgical practice in collaboration with Surgery - Anesthesia - Nursing Service and other services within this hospital.

The OR Scheduler RN demonstrates leadership and clinical expertise to optimize operating room use, coordinate case priorities, and ensure safe patient care.

Qualifications

• Must be proficient in English (read/write/speak) for direct patient care.
• Graduate of an nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of completion.
• RN licensure in a U.S. state or territory with current, unrestricted license.
• Possibility for bridge program graduates to become registered nurses with state board.
• Eligible for temporary appointment and later conversion upon licensure.
• Foreign-educated nurses must have licensure validity or degree equivalency evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate operating room scheduling processes to maximize room utilization.
• Collaborate with Surgery, Anesthesia, Nursing Service and other services.
• Input scheduling data into the Surgical Software Package and update as needed.
• Serve as a resource for residents and fellows on OR scheduling policies.
• Act as patient advocate and resolve inquiries related to surgical scheduling.
• Manage multiple internal and external phases of the Mastery Surgery Schedule daily.
