Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Operating Room in Huntington, NY. This full-time night shift role requires on-call availability and a patient-centered approach to perioperative care.

You will collaborate with surgeons and care teams to implement procedures, perform nursing assessments, and educate patients and families on discharge planning and safety measures. A BSN is preferred, with NY licensure and BLS required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (RN) and NYS licensure required.
• BLS certification required; BSN preferred but not required.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited program within 24 months of employment and obtain a BSN within five years.

Responsibilities

• Perform an age-specific plan of care for a designated group of patients.
• Collaborate with physicians and health team members in implementing procedures and treatments.
• Assess the patient's physiologic health status through interviews and chart reviews.
• Determine mobility, sensory deficits, and skin condition, adjusting the plan of care as needed.
• Communicate and document patient's physiologic health status and plan of care.
• Develop criteria for measurement of patient outcomes and identify actual/potential patient problems.
• Formulate the plan of care and establish priorities to achieve expected outcomes.
• Maintain constant vigilance over patient care to ensure safety precautions are followed.
• Administer medications correctly and safely, educating patients on drug interactions.
• Participate in patient and family education, providing explanations of conditions and discharge planning.
