Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room, FlexStaff, to provide comprehensive nursing care in a fast-paced OR. You will focus on patient assessment, care coordination, and effective communication with the surgical team.

Requires an Associate’s Degree in Nursing; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. 1–2 years of related OR nursing experience, NY license, and BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• Active New York RN license (Registered Professional Nurse)
• BLS certification is required
• 1–2 years of professional nursing experience in the operating room or related specialty

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s physiologic health status.
• Conduct patient interviews and explain policies and procedures.
• Assess gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status.
• Determine mobility, sensory deficits, prostheses use, and skin condition.
• Assess level of pain and pain management.
• Communicate and document patient’s physiologic health status and plan of care.
• Elicit perception of medical/nursing care and expectations.
• Develop criteria for measurement of patient outcomes.
• Formulate the plan of care and establish priorities.
• Implement the plan of care and maintain constant vigilance over patient care.
