Job summary

Medical City Dallas, part of the Medical City Healthcare network, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to support perioperative care in the Operating Room. Expect self-scheduling, a culture of collaboration, and ongoing equipment investments to ensure patient safety and workflow efficiency.

You will be part of an interdisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centered nursing care and participating in events like surgical site verification and time-out procedures.

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in good standing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of start date.
• CVOR (cardiovascular operating room) experience required.
• Strong patient education and communication skills.
• Critical thinking and leadership to deliver safe perioperative care.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery and assess readiness for procedures.
• Educate patients and families about perioperative processes and care.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy and preoperative meds.
• Participate in time-out and universal protocols for patient safety.
• Recognize emergencies and respond promptly.
• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care and drive improvement.
• Collaborate with surgeons, techs, and other staff as an integral team member.
• Document patient condition and care provided accurately.
• Provide follow-up education to patients and caregivers after procedures.
