Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Michigan Registered Nurse licensure required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) provider—required.
• ACLS preferred for Endoscopy/Level 4/5; must obtain ACLS within 60 days of hire or placement in the unit.
• Level 4/Level 5 RN: ACLS preferred; obtain ACLS within one year.
• Level 4/Level 5 RN: Competence in basic cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation; training provided.
• PALS provider preferred for Level 6 and ED; must obtain PALS within six months and ACLS within three months; recert every two years.
• IR/NEURO IR RN: ACLS must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• Previous experience in specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

• ASSESSMENT—Assess the patient's condition and rehabilitation needs.
• PLANNING—Develop a plan of care and patient outcome goals.
• IMPLEMENTATION—Implement nursing plan and orders.
• IMPLEMENTATION—Establish priorities based on needs, time, and resources.
• IMPLEMENTATION—Perform nursing procedures and use equipment per standards.
• EVALUATION—Evaluate patient response and modify care plan as needed.
• PATIENT EDUCATION—Educate patient and family based on outcomes.
• DOCUMENTATION—Document information in the patient care record.
• PATIENT/FAMILY RIGHTS—Respect patient rights and confidentiality.
• SAFETY/RISK MANAGEMENT—Follow safety standards.
• LEGAL ISSUES—Adhere to legal aspects of care and department operations.
• EMERGENCIES—Respond to emergencies following standards and document events.
• KNOWLEDGE BASE—Maintain current knowledge and standards of care.
• PROFESSIONALISM—Maintain professionalism, attendance, and scheduling flexibility.
• SELF EDUCATION—Pursue continuing education and guidance when needed.
• STAFF DEVELOPMENT—Participate in staff development and department goals.
• QUALITY ASSURANCE/STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT—Engage in peer review and quality initiatives.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

Michigan RN licensure

BLS/CPR provider

ACLS provider preferred / obtain ACLS within 60 days or 1 year

Cardiac rhythm interpretation competence

PALS provider preferred

ACLS re-certification every 2 years

Experience in specialty unit preferred
