Job summary

The Advanced Center for Surgery is seeking a PRN OR Circulating Registered Nurse to join our ambulatory surgery team in Vero Beach. The role focuses on circulating during outpatient orthopedic and neurology procedures and ensuring patient safety, proper documentation, and effective team communication.

Ideal candidates are Florida-licensed RNs with BLS/ACLS, at least one year in intra-operative settings, and a commitment to infection control and quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Currently licensed in Florida.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• One year experience in intra-operative setting.
• Experience in orthopedic surgical procedures; total joint experience a plus.
• Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
• Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for all age patients in operating room.

We are currently searching for a OR Circulating Registered Nurse - PRN to join our team.

JOB SUMMARY

• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for all age patients in operating room.


• Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center.


• Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to physicians, patients, family members, and personnel in other departments as well as team members.


• May have additional responsibilities as designated by the Clinical Director, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits and projects.


• Circulating nurses may ensure all patient paperwork is completed, such as consent forms. During the procedure, nurses may also document what takes place.


• They are a patient advocate in that they assure that safety procedures are being met. Circulating nurses may also replenish surgical supplies as needed during the procedure. After the procedure, they may verify instrument count and complete charting and other related duties.


• Being detail oriented is also a needed skill for OR nurses. Small mistakes in the operating room can have a big impact on a patient’s condition. Nurses must also be able to handle several things at once. For instance, they may need to listen to the surgeon, monitor the patient and assist with the procedure at the same time.

Ideal candidate will be focused on excellent customer service, have the ability to multi-task, the ability to show flexibility in assignments, maintain scrupulous infection control standards, maintain professional competencies and have the ability to work as part of an interdependent multidisciplinary team.
