Job summary

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, is seeking a Pathologists' Assistant for the Operating Room Pathology lab. This full-time role supports gross processing, specimen handling, and teaching residents.

Requires a NAACLS Pathologists' Assistant program, a Bachelor's degree, and ASCP certification (or within one year). Master's degree preferred. Benefits eligible with a 40-hour work week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university and successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program.
• ASCP Pathology Assistant certification or must obtain within one year of hire.
• Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs gross processing of operating room and clinic specimens, including photography and preparation of related surgical pathology reports.
• Teaches junior residents proper grossing techniques and assists in timely completion.
• Implements research protocols, procures samples, processes samples, and notifies investigators of readiness.
• Reviews resident rotation schedules with the chief/senior residents.
• Answers questions from attending pathologists regarding dictation and orientation of gross specimens.
• Maintains systems and reports, including drafting, filing, and billing related to surgical pathology.
