Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
• NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program (ASCP) required.
• ASCP certification or obtain within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs gross processing of operating room and clinic specimens, including photography and related pathology reports.
• Teaches junior residents proper grossing techniques and assists in timely completion.
• Implements operating room tissue-based research protocols and procures samples.
• Reviews resident rotation schedules with chiefs/senior residents.
• Answers questions from attending pathologists regarding dictation and orientation of gross specimens.
• Provides data for monthly Surgical Pathology QA reports.
• Maintains and updates the gross specimen handbook.
• Manages protocols, reports, data, and billing-related filing in the lab.
