Job summary

TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Tennessee invites applications for an Operating Room Nurse Internship as part of our Nurse Residency Program. This 5-month, didactic and clinical training blends classroom learning with hands-on perioperative experience in a supportive environment.

The program accepts licensed RNs with no prior OR experience, including new graduates, and prepares you to work as a circulating and scrub nurse in the intraoperative setting, under a preceptor and nursing leadership

Qualifications

• Associate Degree required and RN licensure (or APRN) must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Active nursing license in good standing for the state of the hiring facility (Tennessee or Kentucky) is required to begin the program.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy and preoperative medications.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols according to hospital policy.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team including providers and surgeons.
