Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's Community Hospital of San Bernardino is seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse to be a central figure in our surgical services team, advocating for patients during their perioperative journey.

You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and scrub nurses to deliver safe, compassionate perioperative care, perform pre-op assessments, ensure sterile technique, and support families throughout the process.

Qualifications

• 1 year of staff OR experience as an RN
• Graduate of accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program
• Registered Nurse: CA, upon hire and
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire and
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support, upon hire

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive Assessment & Care: completes pre-op, intraop, and post-op assessments and hand-offs within hospital policy timelines
• Intraoperative Vigilance: reassesses patient status and initiates rapid-response interventions as needed
• Sterile Field Management: maintains aseptic technique and coordinates with the team to ensure efficiency
• Holistic Patient Advocacy: addresses psycho-social, spiritual, and cultural needs and provides emotional support
• Risk Mitigation: prevents infections, pressure injuries, and other adverse events by managing environment and equipment
• Communication & Education: provides pre-op instructions and post-op discharge education to patients and families
• Coping & Support: assesses coping and guides families through the surgical experience
