Required – Experience and Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Graduate of an accredited Nursing program; BSN required.
  • 3 years experience as an RN (specialty areas may have increased requirements depending on unit or standard of care).
  • Licenses and Certifications: Nursing Licensure Compact – BNE or current Texas license; BLS (Basic Life Support) course accredited by AHA or ARC.
Preferred
  • Minimum 2 years Operating Room RN experience.
  • Progressive RN leadership experience (lead, charge, supervisor).
  • Operating Room experience in Orthopedics, Spine, or Urology.
  • CNOR certification.
Job Duties
  • Directly supervise and evaluate patient care by staff on a 24‑hour basis, make daily patient rounds, conduct random chart audits, and mentor personnel.
  • Manage staff and staffing assignments to meet productivity targets and patient needs, coordinating with Central Staffing Office and House Supervisor.
  • Model pro‑active problem solving and collaborate with staff to resolve identified issues.
  • Use chain of command for escalating issues, advocate for patients and staff, and support safe care delivery.
  • Provide coverage during shifts, serve as role model when providing direct patient care.
  • Coach and counsel nursing personnel, promote professional growth, and support participation in unit activities, committees, and continuing education.
  • Ensure accurate event reporting through RL Solutions, investigate event facts, and facilitate timely follow‑up by management.
  • Participate in patient care conferences, maintain/implement plans for patient satisfaction, and streamline OR efficiency and flow.
  • Collect and maintain performance records, comply with policies and procedures, provide input for annual performance reviews, and ensure competency assessment.
  • Maintain Kronos records, monitor scheduling trends, and address attendance issues.
  • Control inventory of equipment and supplies, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
  • Lead staff meetings, special projects, and performance‑improvement initiatives, communicate data, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Coordinate improvement projects with physicians and other disciplines, and demonstrate continuous performance improvement.
  • Meet or exceed financial goals and departmental objectives, performing core functions related to patient care, research participants, and record maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
