Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Operating Room in Dallas, TX. The role supervises nursing staff, ensures safe patient care, and coordinates staffing with leadership to meet unit needs.

You will mentor staff, manage performance, and participate in performance improvement initiatives while maintaining compliance and contributing to patient satisfaction goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• RN license in Texas or Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) required.
• BLS certification required.
• CNOR certification preferred.
• Progressive RN leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and evaluates patient care by unit staff 24/7; serves as OR charge nurse on rotation.
• Manages staffing to meet productivity targets; adjusts assignments per census and patient needs.
• Models proactive problem solving; collaborates to resolve issues affecting care delivery.
• Advocates for patients and staff to ensure safe care and environment.
• Provides coaching and orientation; promotes staff development and engagement.
• Maintains workforce records, coordinates self-scheduling (Kronos), and monitors overtime.
• Leads performance improvement activities and participates in committees and meetings.
