Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Operating Room to deliver direct patient care and support the surgical team in a fast-paced setting.

You will apply the nursing process, coordinate care, and ensure safe patient flow from admission to discharge while collaborating with multidisciplinary staff. MA RN licensure, BLS, and an accredited nursing program are required; ACLS is ongoing per unit needs.

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts licensure and registration.
• Completion of an accredited school of nursing program.
• BLS is a requirement for every RN unless ACLS is current, with unit-specific certifications as needed.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the Nursing Process for patient care from Admission to Discharge, appropriate to patient age.
• Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.
• Develops and coordinates individual plan of care including discharge planning.
• Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluates nursing care within the assigned setting.
• Delegates appropriately to others per job description and competency.
• Documents patient care according to standard procedure.
• Develops and documents Education Plan for patient/family/significant other.
• Ensures quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other health care providers.
• Administers medications, performs treatments, therapies and operates equipment per policy.
• Assists physician with treatment and procedures and tests as required.
• Participates in Nursing Governance activities and professional development.
• Contributes to performance improvement initiatives and daily quality improvement.
