Job summary

Qualifications

• 1 year current experience in HMO or ambulatory setting with emphasis on patient education.
• RN licenses in VA/MD/DC within 6 months of hire; compact license.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care, triage member calls, patient teaching, and assists with procedures.
• Coordinates patient care for hospital admissions, referrals, IV care, OB protocol, and Peds/ MCCP where applicable.
• Creates staffing schedules and assigns department staff; tracks workloads and overtime.
• Calls in staff to meet staffing requirements and coordinates with other clinical teams.
• Mentors staff, orients new hires, and identifies training needs.
• Performs special projects and provides feedback on staff performance.
• Assists in development and revision of department procedures.
• Handles difficult member issues.
