Job summary

Baptist Health Lexington is seeking a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room for full-time first shift (0645-1915) in Lexington, KY. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified individuals. The OR team covers pre- op, surgeries, and post-op care with multiple departments and a strong focus on quality care.

The role requires RN licensure in Kentucky, a nursing degree (ASN/BSN), BLS (ACLS/PALS/NRP as needed), and leadership ability. On-call weekends/holidays are required by rotation.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure and work permit in Kentucky.
• BSN or ASN from an accredited college/university; enroll in BSN if ASN.
• BLS certification required; obtain within 30 days if not held.
• ACLS/PALS/NRP and dysrhythmia class as required by department.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ needs and develop care plans.
• Provide direct patient care and supervise delivery.
• Manage patient care delivery and ensure quality.
• Demonstrate leadership and support for the team.
• Maintain patient relations and healing environment.
• On-call weekends/holidays by rotation.
• Support OR patients before, during, and after surgery.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity.
• Supervise/delegate to PCAs, LPNs, unit secretaries, and students.

Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department.

Description Registered Nurse-OR:

• Assessment of patients’ needs.
• Development of patient care plan/s
• Provision of direct care.
• Management of patient care delivery.
• Demonstrate leadership skills.
• Support for quality care.
• Customer relations and healing environment.
• On call requirement weekends/holidays picked by rotation.
• Operating Room Nurses provide care and support to patients before, during and after surgery.
• Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking and creativity.
• Must possess ability to supervise and delegate appropriate work to Patient Care Techs, Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Secretaries, and Students.

Requirements Registered Nurse-OR:

• Current RN licensure and work permit in Kentucky.
• Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
• Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
• ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.
