Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse supervisor to ensure the availability of resources and personnel for quality patient care in the operating room. You will collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia, triage cases, and deploy staff to meet daily schedules.

The role requires RN licensure in Rhode Island, formal nursing education, and strong leadership and communication skills to guide the perioperative team and uphold patient safety and privacy.

Qualifications

  • Completion of formal education in an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Rhode Island RN license.
  • Thorough knowledge of operating room nursing.
  • Leadership and supervisory ability to direct activities of staff.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with staff, physicians, and patients.
  • Understanding age-related care, development, and cultural patterns in patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate OR schedule with surgeons and anesthesia teams to optimize patient flow.
  • Manage resources (staffing and supply) efficiently during tour of duty.
  • Act as a clinical resource for perioperative personnel using evidence-based guidelines.
  • Provide guidance, support, and constructive feedback to the surgical team.
  • Ensure availability of necessary personnel, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
  • Maintain patient advocacy and confidentiality throughout perioperative care.
