Job summary

Meritus Health in Hagerstown, MD is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to support patients before, during, and after procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will help prepare equipment, maintain a calm and safe environment, and collaborate with the surgical team to ensure high-quality patient care.

The role requires a high school diploma (Nursing Assistant program preferred) and a current BLS CPR certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Nursing Assistant program preferred.
• Current BLS (CPR) certification required in Meritus Health policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the physical and emotional needs of surgical patients before, during, and after procedures.
• Support the surgical team by preparing equipment, supplies, and patient areas.
• Maintain effective communication with team members to ensure continuity of care.
• Foster positive relationships with other departments and nursing units.
• Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and empathy in all patient interactions.
