Job summary

Meritus Health in Maryland seeks an Operating Room Assistant to support surgical teams under RN supervision. You will assist with the physical and psychosocial needs of surgical patients and help prepare equipment and patient areas to maintain a smooth, safe operating environment.

Ideal candidates value teamwork, communicate effectively, and are committed to patient-centered care. A high school diploma is required; Nursing Assistant training is preferred, with current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Nursing Assistant program completion preferred.
• Related patient care experience preferred.
• Current BLS (CPR) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with physical and emotional needs of surgical patients before, during, and after procedures.
• Prepare equipment, supplies, and patient areas for the surgical team.
• Maintain effective communication to ensure continuity of care.
• Foster positive relationships with other departments and nursing units.
• Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and empathy in patient interactions.
• Uphold safety, service, and collaboration standards at Meritus Health.
