Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to work under the supervision of a RN in a busy surgical unit. You will provide direct patient care, prepare the OR, and assist with positioning, sterile technique, and room turnover.

Responsibilities

• Open sterile supplies and instruments using aseptic technique.
• Assist with room turnover and aseptic practices.
• Maintain OR supply inventory and linen.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Position Purpose:

In accordance withthe Mission and GuidingBehaviors;the Operating Room Assistant, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, will provide patient care tasks, in an atmosphere sensitive to each person's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Functions within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Organization.

What you will do:

• Assistswith placing patient in the designated surgical position (e.g.supine, prone, lateral, lithotomy).

• Monitor positioning and traction devices asappropriate.

• Verifiesintegrityof sterile packaging and sterilization indicators.

• Open sterile supplies and instruments using aseptictechnique.

• Assistswith room turnover.

• Adheres to aseptic technique principles.

• Maintains OR supply inventory and linen.

• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High school graduate orequivalencyrequired.

• Experience:Previoushealthcare experience preferred

• Effective Communication Skills

• Demonstrates effective interpersonal,verbaland written communication. Math computation skills.

• BLS healthcare provider trainingrequired.
