Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) is seeking an Operating Engineer to support operation, inspection and maintenance of mechanical, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems on-site in Chicago, IL. Shift: Mon–Fri 3:00 PM–11:00 PM, on-site work required.

The role emphasizes safety, maintenance tasks, and proactive service requests. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in building maintenance, HVAC, or related trades, with a goal to obtain Universal CFC EPA certification within the first year with JLL assistance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related work experience, especially in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or carpentry.
• Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable.
• Universal CFC EPA certification or interest in achieving within first year (with JLL assistance).
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall.
• Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift and/or drive.
• Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned tasks that include but are not limited to: painting, pressure washing, maintaining lighting system bulbs/ballasts (as allowed by any licensing requirements), plumbing, HVAC systems, water treatment, locksmith work and general maintenance.
• Maintain work order system (CMMS) daily and complete any tenant service requests.
• Perform assigned preventive maintenance and inspection tasks.
• Support on-call or emergency response situations (if applicable).
• Troubleshoot all building systems, including electrical, DDC and pneumatic controls.
• Comply with all safety procedures.
• Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs.
• Other projects and tasks to be assigned.
