Job summary

B&S Site Development, a fast-growing civil construction leader around Atlanta, is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator. You will work with bulldozers, excavators, loaders and other heavy machinery to prepare work areas, excavate trenches, and move materials safely according to project specs.

Requirements include 1–2 years in construction, a High School diploma or GED, ability to lift 50 lbs, and the capacity to work under pressure in a dynamic team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Technical study or prior experience operating different heavy equipment is a plus.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Capable of following instructions and making sound decisions under pressure.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate bulldozers, excavators, loaders and other heavy equipment safely.
• Dig trenches for installation of utilities (water, drainage, sewer).
• Support crews in installing storm, water, and sewer lines.
• Comply with all project safety procedures and company standards.
• Operate machinery to move, load and place materials accurately.
• Prepare work areas for construction, demolition or excavation.
• Load/unload rock, debris, earth and other materials using heavy equipment.
• Maintain effective communication with coworkers and supervisors.
• Report injuries, incidents or accidents to foreman and superintendents.
• Review daily schedule and determine efficient means to complete tasks.
• Inform foreman about repairs, replacements or improvements needed on equipment.
• Inspect equipment and refuel before each shift.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and minor repairs as needed.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned.
