Job summary

Synechron is seeking an experienced OpenText ALM Octane Administration and Integration Consultant to manage and optimize ALM Octane environments. You will configure workspaces, users, roles, and pipelines, and support ALM Octane REST APIs, Jira synchronization, and migrations from legacy systems.

Synechron is seeking an experienced OpenText ALM Octane Administration and Integration Consultant to manage, configure, and support OpenText ALM Octane environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for workspace administration, release and pipeline configuration, API-based integrations, Octane-Jira synchronization, and migration from legacy ALM platforms. The role requires strong hands‑on experience with OpenText ALM Octane, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and the capability to collaborate with application, QA, DevOps, and business teams in an enterprise environment.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $100k - $110k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities

• Set up and manage Octane pipelines for continuous integration and delivery.
• Integrate ALM Octane with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
• Develop, consume, and troubleshoot ALM Octane REST APIs.
• Automate administrative and reporting activities using Octane APIs and scripts.
• Implement and support Octane-Jira synchronization, including:
• Status and workflow mapping
• Defect synchronization
• User and project mapping
• Monitor integrations and resolve synchronization failures, data conflicts, and connectivity issues.
• Plan and execute migration from legacy ALM/Quality Center environments to OpenText ALM Octane.
• Analyze legacy projects, requirements, test cases, defects, releases, and historical data before migration.
• Develop migration strategies, mapping documents, validation plans, and reconciliation reports.
• Perform data cleansing, transformation, validation, and post‑migration verification.
• Support users during migration, onboarding, and adoption of ALM Octane.
• Define administration standards, governance procedures, and best practices.
• Maintain technical documentation for configurations, integrations, migration activities, and operational procedures.
• Provide production support, incident resolution, root‑cause analysis, and continuous improvement recommendations.
• Collaborate with QA, development, DevOps, release management, and project teams to align ALM Octane processes with delivery goals.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in application lifecycle management, test management, DevOps administration, or QA tools administration.
• Hands‑on experience administering and configuring OpenText ALM Octane.
• Strong knowledge of:Workspaces
• Releases and milestones
• Teams, users, roles, and permissions
• Workflows and custom fields
• Defects, requirements, tests, and quality management processes
• Experience with OpenText ALM Octane REST APIs.
• Experience integrating Octane with Jira or similar issue‑tracking platforms.
• Knowledge of synchronization configuration, data mapping, field mapping, and workflow alignment.
• Experience with legacy ALM/Quality Center migration to ALM Octane.
• Ability to analyze, transform, migrate, and validate ALM data.
• Experience integrating ALM Octane with CI/CD platforms.
• Knowledge of JSON, XML, REST, HTTP, YAML, and API authentication methods.
• Scripting experience in one or more of the following:Python
• PowerShell
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred, but not required

• OpenText ALM Octane or ALM/Quality Center certification.
• Experience with Jira administration and advanced Jira integrations.
• Knowledge of Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or other CI/CD tools.
• Familiarity with REST API automation, JSON/XML, and API authentication mechanisms.
• Experience migrating projects from legacy ALM/Quality Center to OpenText ALM Octane.
• Knowledge of database queries, data mapping, reconciliation, and migration validation.
