Job summary

Teledyne Brown Engineering in Huntsville, AL seeks a Systems Administrator to manage Red Hat OpenShift and Linux environments supporting mission-critical NASA operations on ISS and Artemis. You will automate tasks with Ansible, implement IaC with Terraform, and ensure high availability in a regulated aerospace setting.

The role requires 6+ years of Linux/OpenShift experience, Bash scripting, and strong collaboration with DevOps and end users.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
• 6+ years of hands-on systems administration with emphasis on Linux/Red Hat and container platforms.
• Proficiency with Red Hat OpenShift administration, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Scripting skills (Bash) for automation and task automation.
• Experience with Ansible and Ansible Automation Platform for configuration management and automation.
• Knowledge of Terraform or IaC techniques for provisioning and configuration management.
• Familiarity with GitLab-driven CI/CD workflows and GitOps practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication for clear documentation and procedures.
• Ability to work with end users, developers, and cross-functional teams; US citizenship or clearance eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Red Hat OpenShift platforms including monitoring, user management, resource allocation, patches, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Perform advanced Linux (RHEL) system administration tasks such as installation, security hardening, performance tuning, backups, and log management.
• Develop automation scripts and playbooks with Ansible to automate deployments and system maintenance on OpenShift and Linux environments.
• Provide end-user and application team support, guidance, and issue resolution for OpenShift and Linux systems.
• Document configurations, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides to support knowledge sharing and compliance.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code practices using Terraform for consistent provisioning and configuration management.
• Utilize GitLab for version control, CI/CD workflows, and automated deployments.
• Monitor system health, respond to incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and apply fixes for reliability and security.
• Collaborate with developers and DevOps teams to align OpenShift with application deployments and cross-team needs.
• Stay current with Red Hat technologies, Linux best practices, and container administration trends.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm for space exploration and NASA missions.
