Job summary

Inflow in Huntsville, AL seeks a senior Linux systems engineer to support mission-critical Linux workstations, servers, and HPC clusters. You will build automation with Python, Bash, and Ansible, deploy Podman and help establish Kubernetes, and optimize high‑speed networking for inter‑node communication.

Required TS clearance with SCI eligibility and CI poly, plus DoD 8570-M Security+/SSCP. Experience with Lustre/GPFS and scheduling tools is valued. Location: Huntsville, AL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, Physics, or STEM.
• Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) eligibility.
• Deep-tier Linux systems engineering experience (RHEL/Rocky preferred).
• Active DoD 8570.01-M baseline certification (Security+ CE, SSCP, or equivalent).
• Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with eligibility for SCI and a CI Scope Polygraph within 180 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and lifecycle management of mission-critical Linux workstations, enterprise-grade servers, and HPC clusters.
• Develop automation workflows using Python, Bash, and Ansible to eliminate manual toil and ensure drift-free configurations.
• Modernize scientific workflows by deploying and managing isolated environments using Podman while establishing a Kubernetes environment.
• Configure and optimize high-bandwidth networking, including InfiniBand fabrics, for seamless inter-node communication.
• Author high-fidelity playbooks and architectural diagrams guiding infrastructure evolution.
• Push the limits of cluster scheduling and management with Bright Cluster Manager and Slurm.
• Implement Hardened by Design security; fine-tune SELinux policies and firewall configurations.
• Master data movement; administer Lustre and GPFS/Spectrum Scale filesystems for fast access.
