Job summary

Calance seeks an Ansible/OpenShift Automation Engineer to design, implement, and support air-gapped, classified OpenShift environments. You will blend Ansible expertise with OpenShift deployment, security hardening, and Windows workload automation via KubeVirt, collaborating with security, network, and platform teams to deliver a compliant container platform for defense applications.

Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication; able to produce runbooks, SOPs, and compliance documentation.
Collaborative work with remote, distributed teams.
2+ years IT experience; 1+ year focused on Ansible automation at enterprise scale.
Experience with OpenShift Container Platform 4.x installation, upgrade, and day-2 operations.
Familiarity with OpenShift in mission-critical environments.
Scripting in Python and Bash or PowerShell; ability to write custom Ansible modules and CLI tools.
Experience with Helm v3 chart development and GitOps workflows.
Familiarity with KubeVirt, Windows VM provisioning, and virtualization drivers.
Familiarity with bare-metal provisioning, networking, and storage.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools: Argo CD, GitOps Operator, OpenShift Pipelines, Jenkins/GitLab.
Experience with automation orchestration tools such as Rundeck.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain Ansible Collections, playbooks, roles, and modules for Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.
Engineer air-gapped OpenShift 4.x installations with secure image management and repository mirroring.
Integrate Ansible automation with ACM and OpenShift GitOps for end-to-end CI/CD.
Build and maintain Helm v3 charts and GitOps manifests for enterprise apps.
Provision Windows VM workloads via KubeVirt, including domain join and hardening.
Create runbooks, SOPs, and security checklists; document cluster diagrams.
Troubleshoot failures across the stack: Ansible, OpenShift, networking, storage, and runtime.
Develop system administration jobs in Bash or Python.
