University of Maryland, Baltimore, School of Dentistry is recruiting a full-time, non-tenure clinical faculty member for the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry. The role blends clinical education, patient care, and academic operations to shape how pre-doctoral students become confident dentists.

The position is based in the Division of General Practice, within a group practice model. Clinic hours are Mon–Fri 8am–5pm, with evening clinics 4:00–6:30 pm; 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• DMD or DDS from a CODA-accredited institution or foreign equivalent dental degree.
• Eligibility for a teaching dental license in Maryland.
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice in a comprehensive general dentistry setting.
• Hands-on experience in phased treatment planning, operative and direct restorative dentistry, single-unit indirect restorations, urgent dental care, post-operative management, and appropriate referrals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Teach in the predoctoral dental clinic and supervise students providing patient care.
• Mentor assigned students on academic and clinical progress.
• Manage patient care with students within their group practice.
• Track student progress and collaborate with academic affairs on deficiencies.
• Teach and direct predoctoral courses related to the department (treatment planning, restorative dentistry, diagnostic sciences).
• Train adjunct faculty to achieve clinical calibration.
• Support quality assurance and improvements in coordination with leadership.
• Address operational needs and special assignments from the Chair.
• Contribute as a team member to problem-solving.
