Job summary

The Department of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for an open rank faculty research position in Cardiology. The successful candidate will develop research programs in cardiovascular biology, clinical research, biomedical engineering or epidemiology and join the McAllister Heart Institute.

The faculty member will participate in hands-on laboratory work, manuscript and grant preparation, and form collaborations with UNC and other institutions.

Qualifications

• MD and board certified/eligible in cardiovascular medicine.
• PhD or MPH is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and lead an independent, externally funded research program.
• Strong record of publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
• Proven success in obtaining extramural research funding.
• Experience supervising and mentoring research staff, trainees, and/or faculty.
• Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach and/or perform clinical cardiology services.
• Engage in hands-on laboratory work and manuscript/grant preparation.
• Form working collaborations with UNC and external research entities.
• Collaborate within UNC departments and with the joint Biomedical Engineering efforts.
