Job summary

The Department of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for an open rank faculty research position in the Division of Cardiology. The successful candidate will develop research programs spanning cardiovascular biology, clinical studies, biomedical engineering or epidemiology with an appointment in the McAllister Heart Institute.

The role includes hands-on laboratory work, manuscript and grant preparation, and collaboration with other UNC entities.

Qualifications

• MD is required and board certification/eligibility in cardiovascular medicine.
• PhD or MPH is a plus for enhanced research activity.
• Strong record of leadership and collaboration in research settings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead independent, externally funded research programs.
• Publish in high-impact peer‑reviewed journals and secure extramural funding.
• Collaborate with UNC and other institutions; mentor trainees and staff.
• Teach and/or provide clinical cardiology services as appropriate.
