Job summary

Nevada Gold Mines, a dynamic mining company, is seeking an Open Pit Geotechnical Engineering Superintendent to lead our internal geotechnical design team across the portfolio from scoping to closure. You will oversee data collection, rock mass assessments, and slope designs using Rocscience and related software, mentor engineers, and coordinate with site leads to deliver safe, efficient mining operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering or related field is required.
• Minimum of 10 years hands-on geotechnical experience at an active open pit mine site.
• Hands-on experience with data collection and assessment of rock mass and rock fabric properties.
• Strong understanding of soil and rock properties, anisotropy and effects on slope design.
• Experience with open pit blasting techniques and controls.
• Experience with Rocscience and slope design software.
• Supervisory experience of engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities

• Data collection and assessment of rock mass and rock fabric properties.
• Interpret laboratory and field testing of soil and rock materials and slope effects.
• Geotechnical analyses using Rocscience, Maptek, LeapFrog, Deswik, and Vulcan.
• Develop geotechnical slope designs from bench to overall slopes.
• Prepare technical memos and reports.
• Lead and coordinate geotechnical design projects across the open pit portfolio.
• Mentor staff on geotechnical engineering principles.
